Why unfold?

UNFOLD - UNWIND - UPLIFT

unfold into your best self. Our mission statement is to be the leading Women's Yoga Specialist in Fife and surrounds, focusing on making women feel good in their own skin throughout their journey through womanhood.

The name 'unfold' resonates deeply with my personal journey. I often felt crumpled , folding in on myself and my desires during significant life changes, particularly pregnancy and postpartum.
These experiences can dramatically alter a woman's body, mind and sense of identity in both subtle and profound ways.

I wanted to reclaim my sense of self, to regain control and confidence in my body and face, and to do so in the most natural way possible. 'unfold' symbolises the process of opening up, embracing change, and rediscovering the beauty within. its about shedding the layers of doubt and insecurity to reveal a more radiant and empowered version of ourselves.

At
unfold, we encourage every woman to embark on her own journey of unfolding - embracing her unique beauty, celebrating her strength and finding joy in the process of self-discovery. together, lets unfold into the confident, vibrant individuals we are meant to be.

All About Me...

Hi, my name is Natalie and I am the founder of Unfold Yoga.

Welcome to Unfold Yoga! I’m a passionate women's specialist yoga teacher with a journey rooted in movement and self-discovery. My love for dance in my youth evolved into a deep appreciation for yoga, which began as a way to relieve the aches and pains of a busy life. Initially, I focused on the physical aspects of yoga - i.e. how it looked rather than how I felt. However, somewhere along the journey of life, I started listening to my body’s needs over external validation.

After the birth of my second child in 2018, I realised I wanted a change from my role as a Depute Headteacher which I had done for nearly 10 years. Despite my growing passion for fitness and running, I knew yoga was where I could truly make a difference. This led me to pursue yoga teacher training, however after a difficult experience with a yoga master teacher, I became put off and ignored my calling and instead went back to work.

When the pandemic hit, I found joy in spending quality time with my family and doing all things health and wellness, which helped me revisit my desire for a career shift. After completing Yoga Scotland's Foundation course while pregnant with my third child, I discovered Yogabellies—a supportive yoga teacher training course that allowed me to fulfil my dream of becoming a yoga teacher while managing motherhood. It was everything I wanted - not too spiritual or 'hippy' and rooted in female empowerment and based around the female body and lifecycle.

Now, my practice is centred around somatic movements that align with how I feel, embracing my body's unique needs. My favourite practice is yin yoga, which rejuvenates my tired muscles from work-outs and running. I believe yoga is a lifelong journey that evolves with us, and I’m excited to share this transformative experience with other women at Unfold Yoga.

I trained as a Face Yoga Teacher in July 2024 as I realised that my love for all things skincare and facial treatments needed an outlet also.

I discovered Face Yoga by accident. I was looking for a Botox alternative as I had gotten Botox injections for my forehead wrinkles (which was my main concern) and while I liked the result, I started to worry about getting toxin injected every few months. I also became interested in natural skincare and sought other options to help with anti-aging.  I realised that I love working out and building the muscles in my body – why was I paralysing the ones in my face? Was I going to do this for the rest of my life? Through studying the face yoga method I learned how to retrain my forehead into not wrinkling when I spoke and made expressions. I realised then I would never again get Botox in my forehead.

I now do Face Yoga for all its other benefits - lymphatic drainage, relaxation, headaches and eye strain - I love it! I am still working on building up my jaw line and cheeks for better definition, but I am loving the journey, and I can’t wait to share this with more women. I also certified as a Face Tape Teacher, and this is something I am looking forward to teaching others through workshops and one-to-one lessons. I tape my face most nights (it takes 5 minutes) and I swear it stops my terrible side sleeping habits showing on my face.

Face Yoga truly makes me feel UNFOLDED.
